Transmuting ESG leadership in Singapore: Fulfilling Singapore's path to Net-Zero
An overview of how our solutions & services are aligning with Singapore's sustainability targets
In the latest GreenGov FY2023 report that was published in Nov’24, Singapore has announced their revised and more ambitious targets of bringing down their estimated 59 MtCO2e in 2025, to 45-50 MtCO2e in 10 years time by 2035.
At The Transmutation Principle, we are supportive of this new ambitious targets as the world is slated to exceed their carbon budget in 4 years time.
Time is running out for the planet hence a more concerted effort is required to transit the nation towards sustain-able mitigation and adaptation strategies.
Adopting those strategies require a mindset shift and operational changes to embed sustainability as a lifestyle and commercial protocol.
Good news is, at The Transmutation Principle, we can offer our knowledge, tools and expertise to grassroots and businesses during this transitional period.
Here is our Transmutation roadmap for Singapore that is in accordance with the GreenGov Singapore sustainability targets.
City in Nature
GreenGov Targets:
2026: >130 ha of new parks & enhance 170 ha of existing parks with more lush vegetation and natural landscapes
2030: x2 annual tree planting rate & plant 1 million more trees across Singapore
2035: Add 1000 ha of green spaces
At Transmutation Principle, we’re also advocates of green citizenry through our Biodiversity climate education workshop.
Participants will learn how the impact that Biodiversity has on our wellbeing and vice versa the impact that human activities have on our natural ecosystem, which more often than not ends in degradation and species extinction.
Regeneration and nature-based solution is the key. The workshop also provide insights into Singapore’s nature conversation efforts.
For distributors and manufacturers aiming to understand the ecological and carbon impact of their products, we offer Biodiversity Assessments of their production supply chains. Understanding a product's carbon footprint is crucial not only for compliance disclosures but also for optimizing operational efficiency.
This year, we have also launched The Biodiversity Collective (TBC), which plays on "To Be Continued" as we believe that biodiversity must be continued for generations, and that it's not just something for experts/researchers to understand, and we hope to help people cross the learning bridge because biodiversity is the bedrock of society!
Conscious Consumption:
GreenGov Targets:
2026: Reduce waste-to-landfill per capita per day by 20%
2030: Reduce waste-to-landfill per capita per day by 30% & reduce household water consumption to 130L per capita per day.
Where there’s Consumption, there’s also Waste. Waste is the inevitable by-product of our linear capitalistic economy.
However waste can be tackled responsibly with environmentally-positive practices such as composting, anaerobic digestion, green product design, sustainable landfill management and systematic changes by embedding circularity right at the core of the supply and value chain.
The Transmutation Principle champions the adoption of Circularity as a lifestyle and business model. Our Circular Economy workshop introduces diverse concepts of Circularity, moving beyond simple recycling and reuse. We illuminate the serious ecological impacts of the traditional linear production model and delve into value creation with applied circularity.

Green Commutes
GreenGov Targets:
2030:
- Achieve 75% mass public transport (i.e. rail and bus) peak-period modal share
- Half of public bus fleet to be replaced by Electric buses.
- Diesel-fuelled buses to replaced by cleaner energy buses.
- Expand rail network to 360km
- Expand cycling path networks to 1,300km
2040:
- Achieve > 80% mass public transport (i.e. rail and bus) peak-period modal share
- Public, active & shared transports to account for 90% of all peak-period journeys
Green Mobility is the lifeline of a sustainable city. By solving the emission-intensity of shared public transports, a city can drastically reduce the Scope 1 emissions of logistics fleets and our individual carbon footprint.
We’ve partnered with Land Transportation Authority & Alstom to host a Mobility workshop for their teams on the environmental issues of fuel consumption and the lifecycle emissions of land, air and sea vehicles from manufacturing to decommissioning.
Join our Mobility Collage sustainability workshop to understand the impact of different modes of transport on the environment and the climate.
Participants are invited to explore the challenges of land, air & sea transport and explore solutions for a more environmentally-friendly modes of transport, such as soft and shared mobility, that not only reduces our carbon footprint but also the quality of life in urban areas.
We also would love to work with logistics and transportation companies that are keen to learn more about green and shared mobility solutions. Email us for a non-obligatory chat!
Innovative Climate Adaptation strategies
Notable climate adaptation GreenGov Targets:
By 2030:
- Locally & sustainably produce 30% of Singapore’s nutritional needs.
- Green 80% of Singapore’s buildings (by Gross Floor Area).
- Increase solar energy supply by at least 2 GWp to meet 3% of 2030 projected energy demand.
- Jurong Island to be transformed into an economically & environmentally sustainable chemical park.
- Complete coastal protection plans for East coast, North-West cost & Jurong Island.
- Singapore to be a carbon services & trading hub in Asia.
With the current trajectory of global temperature rise and climate shakeups, the world knows that trespassing of planetary boundaries have severe and potentially irreversible ecological consequences.
Resetting our climate is a audacious journey which requires not just trillions of funding but also the right strategies to help businesses to adapt during this transitional period.
Singapore strategically investing in self-sufficient infrastructure and securing of renewable energies, illustrates how nations anticipate and secure future economic resources.
Meticulously planned and scaled climate adaptation strategies are increasingly in demand for organisations and nations that recognise the inevitability of climate change impacts and seek innovative solutions to offset risks and simultaneously cultivate competitive advantages.
We conduct advanced climate adaptation training for sustainability professionals and their teams that are seeking to step up on their ESG initiatives. The workshops can be tailored to your sector domains and geographical locations. Drop us an email to enquire more.
Sustainability as an economic driver for employment & GDP growth
GreenGov Targets:
2030:
- Attract new investments to be among the best-in-class in energy & carbon efficiency.
- Singapore to rise up as a sustainable tourism destination.
- Singapore as a leading centre for green finance, local enterprises that capitalise on sustainability opportunities & a regional centre for ESG R&D solutions.
The Transmutation Principle Net-Zero pathway:
Anticipating Singapore’s need for sustainability-trained talent pool and capital flow to enhance our sustainability readiness, our team is also consciously transmuting our ESG coaching offerings and fractional consulting to bridge the knowledge and capacity gaps for our grassroot communities and enterprises of all sizes.
Accessible climate education:
The Transmutation Principle is the co-organiser of two major flagship events in Singapore: AlterCOP & Green IO Singapore. Attendance is complimentary for the public, as our way of sowing back to the community, to raise more environmentally-conscious leaders, influencers and participants of society.
The free event access for the masses is to decentralise and democratise climate action through knowledge exchange between industry experts and the eco-curious masses, which would then facilitate and encourage collaboration.
Sponsorship and contributions would be greatly appreciated to keep the two public platforms going, which are dedicated to our causes in Climate Literacy & Digital Sustainability respectively. Reach out to our team if you like to learn more.
The 3% Leadership: Supporting SMEs in climate-proofing their business.
We believe that lasting systematic change starts with transforming the way we run businesses and public services. 99% of Singapore’s businesses are SMEs, and we are committed to helping enterprises embed sustainability - from education to implementation.
This is why we have setup the 3% Leadership which comprises of cross-domain sustainability experts to assist enterprises from all sectors with their Impact assessments, Carbon Footprint audit and customising of Sustainability frameworks that would inform their ESG implementation roadmap.
The 3% Leadership is inspired by the 3% Year-on-Year global emission reduction goal to reach net-carbon by 2050.
We’ve developed a program tailored to SMEs that can supplement their existing initiatives and or to develop new capabilities in a 3-step approach: Measure - Analyse - Implement, to climate-proof their business. Reach out to us to learn more.
